Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
This policy explains what information Pindrop (the iOS app and the web app, together the "Service") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We collect as little as possible — Pindrop needs an email address and a username to run competitive modes, and that's about it.
1. What we collect
Account information
- Email address — used to create and sign in to your account (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google).
- Username — a public display name shown on leaderboards, in duels, parties and friend lists.
Gameplay data
- Scores, XP, levels, achievements, daily-challenge results and streaks, tournament and world-tour results, country-streak runs, duel and party results (including per-round guess coordinates used for "ghost pin" replays), and friend connections.
Device data
- Push token (iOS only) — if you allow notifications, a device push token and your timezone offset are stored so we can notify you about duel turns, friend requests and daily reminders. The web app does not register for push notifications.
- Local preferences — settings such as theme, sound, region and difficulty are stored on your device (browser local storage on the web) and are not transmitted to us.
We do not collect your precise location. Locations in the game are the places you are guessing, not where you are.
2. How we use it
- To operate the game: matchmaking, leaderboards, streaks, syncing progress between the iOS app and the web app.
- To send gameplay notifications you have opted into (iOS).
- To prevent cheating and abuse.
- To provide support when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Service providers
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication (accounts, scores, matches).
- Google Maps Platform — provides Street View imagery and maps. When imagery loads, your device communicates directly with Google, subject to the Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple — processes in-app purchases and Sign in with Apple on iOS.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription entitlements for Pindrop Pro on iOS.
- Vercel — hosts the web app.
4. What other players see
Your username, badge tier (derived from XP) and relevant scores are visible to other players on leaderboards and in the multiplayer modes you take part in. Your email address is never shown to other players.
5. Data retention and deletion
Gameplay data is kept while your account is active so your progression and history work. You can delete your account — and the personal data linked to it — at any time from the Profile screen in the app, or by emailing us at the address below. Anonymised or aggregated statistics may be retained.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR if you are in the EU/EEA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
7. Children
Pindrop is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with access controls, including row-level security on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for least access.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the "Last updated" date shows the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page.
